The 2008 recipient of the Mike Brown Scholarship is a young man named Joshua Harris.  Josh began his baseball “career” at the age of 4 followed by many years with the Camden-Wyoming Little League, several of which winning state championships as an all-star.  He has started the past three years on Caesar Rodney’s varsity team, and intends to continue playing at Delaware State University where he is planning a double major in Physical Education and Math Education.  The Town of Wyoming wishes Josh the very best!

Broadcast Digital Television

I am sure you have all heard about television stations converting to digital on February 17, 2009.  First, we would like you to understand that if your TV is hooked up to your local cable system or another subscription video provider, you will not be impacted by this change at all and will have to do nothing.  All the subscription providers are taking care of this on their end.

If, however, your TV functions with the help of “rabbit ears” or an antenna, you will no longer be able to watch broadcast TV channels as of February 17, 2009 unless you have a digital TV.  To find out if your TV is digital, look for a label that says “Integrated Digital Tuner,” “Digital Tuner Built-In,” “Digital Receiver,” or “Digital Tuner,” “DTV,” “ATSC,” or “HDTV.”  If your TV has any of those labels, you should be OK.

It is only TVs that are not hooked up to cable and are not already digital that need to do anything in order to keep receiving TV signals after the February 17, 2009 date.  For those of you with this situation, you have three options:

1.  Purchase digital converter boxes to use with your current analog TV’s ($40.00 government issued coupons are available by visiting www.DTV.gov, or by calling 1-888-DTV-2009.)  Coupons are available on a first-com, first-served basis.

2.  Purchase a new digital TV.

3.  Connect your analog TV to the service provided by your local cable company or another video service provider.

If you still have questions concerning this issue, don’t hesitate to call Town Hall and speak to any of us.  We will do our best to help.
