12/8/09 Planning & Zoning Minutes Attendee’s: Guests: Chris Mears with KCI Technologies Motion to approve November’s Minutes as corrected: Jack F. OLD BUSINESS: W.B. Simpson Parking Lot: KCI Technologies has been hired along with a group of designers for the new school renovation. KCI will be responsible for the site planning for the project. Chris Mears with KCI the site engineer stopped by to discuss/show us the proposed plan for the renovation. The design team had concern that they may not be able to meet the required number of parking spaces in our new planning and zoning ordinances. He showed us the plan and they will be increasing the total number of spaces from the existing set up by approximately 30. The layout of the whole parking will change considerably, including the school's entrance. DELDOT gave the school district permission to make the entrance directly off Caesar Rodney Avenue, creating a 4 way intersection. DELDOT did not think this would pose a traffic problem and would not require any additional help, i.e. lights, stop signs ect. The commission felt that the design was reasonable and acceptable, as long as this design would meet the needs of the School district, i.e. Simpson and the District Office. KCI is looking a tentative approval/acceptance that we will allow them not to comply with the new planning and zoning ordinance. Comprehensive Plan Update: Homework, please review the rough draft of chapters 1 and 2 for accuracy and be prepared to discuss at the January meeting. |
