C W Fire Company
The Camden Wyoming Fire Company is sending out its second fund raising request for the current budget year. According to the State Auditor’s Office, volunteer fire companies save the state taxpayers approximately $170,000,000.00 annually in salaries alone. It would cause your tax to increase approximately $7.43 per $100.00 assessed value of your property if the state were to go to paid fire companies rather than volunteer. Please keep this in mind when you receive your donation request letter and you are deciding whether to donate and how much.
In the next few months you will see the fire company having raffles, serving monthly Sunday morning breakfasts, holding quarterly dinners, and holding their Tuesday night Bingo. They are doing everything they can to increase their revenue. Please, please support our fire company by donating and/or supporting their fund raisers.
Our fire company is there when we need them. Now we need to be there for them.

Post 3238 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States has generously donated a POW/MIA flag to the Town of Wyoming to fly on the new flag pole at Wyoming Park. This flag, representing all the Prisoners of War and Missing in Action Veterans from all our country’s foreign wars, is a special reminder to us all that these men and women must never be forgotten. This flag will be flown twenty four hours a day in honor of these special people.
This has definitely been a record year for snowfall in this part of the country. The December storm was a huge surprise in timing as well as quantity. There were small amounts of snowfall in January, and now February has hit us again with huge amounts of the fluffy white stuff. Wyoming maintenance man Lew Denham has put in many hours of overtime and nights sleeping in Town Hall trying to clear our streets enough to keep traffic moving. Considering the fact that he works alone, he has done a tremendous job.
The Town is also very grateful to the many residents such as Kirk Brown of the Wyoming Tavern, Richard and Mike Stockslager, Butch Arnold, and many others who have taken their own equipment and done their share to help out.
We also owe a huge thank you to Sipple’s Used Cars for the loan of a large SUV during the December storm and Winner Ford for the loan of two Ford Explorers during the February storms that our police department used to get around. These loans were free of charge and hugely appreciated. Please keep these businesses in mind when shopping for a new car.
Message from the Mayor
I am going to do my best to keep this short and sweet. First, on behalf of the Town Council, I would like to thank all the residents for their patience in dealing with these last two snow events. Dealing with narrow roads, little to no on street parking and confusion with trash pick-up can be frustrating. Second, a huge thank you goes to Lew, our maintenance man and plow driver extraordinaire. We have received many compliments on how Lew handled the snow these past two weeks. Third, thank you to the many residents who helped out using their own equipment to move snow off of the streets and sidewalks. Forth, our police department never missed a beat in large part due to the four wheel drive vehicles that were borrowed from a local dealership. I felt our town handled the storms very well when you look at the limited equipment we have and the very limited budget we are dealing with. I am sure we are all looking forward to the snow melting away.
As we approach spring, there is much work ahead of us especially when confronting the current economic climate. We will need your help and ideas as we work through our upcoming budget deliberations.
Our town election is on the 27th of this month. Please take the time to speak with all of the candidates before you vote. It is very important that members of council are well aware of how their decisions affect all of us as residents and businesses.
Let's take care of each other, and make the most of everything Wyoming has to offer.

The Wyoming Police Department is on its way to making a smoother path between the police department and the community. You all allow us to come to your house or place of business so we can get to know you on a more personal level; I am inviting you to do the same with the Wyoming Police Department. I am sure there are a lot of questions floating around out there when you see a police officer stopping a motor vehicle for some reason or about how a police officer gets his authority to arrest and enforce the laws. Now is your chance to visit with us while we are working and also have the opportunity to get to know us as people. I would like all of you to either stop by the police department to talk, look around, and see what police officers do in the office. Then, if you wish, you can set up a time when you could do a 'Ride Along' with a Wyoming police officer on his tour of duty. Just to be on the safe side, we can only allow interested parties that are at least sixteen (16) years of age, with a parent's signature, with no active warrants, or currently assigned to probation and/or parole. The Wyoming Police Department does have a standard operating procedure in place as well as a written 'Ride Along' form that needs to be completed prior to the activity. The 'Ride Along'
program will allow you to get a better understanding of how we operate and serve our community. This program is offered all throughout the year. I hope you come out and meet with us.
Officer Dan Creech of the Wyoming Police Department and Mr. Michael Kenny, art instructor for the W. B. Simpson Elementary school, will be setting up an 'Art Gallery' of Kenny's students’ work at the Town of Wyoming Annex. The art work will be displayed on the walls of the Annex for everyone to enjoy. The art work will change about every two (2) weeks. Officer Creech and the police department are looking forward to starting more police and community oriented programs in the future. If you have any ideas that you would like the police department to work on, please contact any of the police officers.
